'Paragraph 79' Planning Permission

Upbrook House - Bindloss Dawes 1.jpg

We are very excited to have been awarded permission for Upbrook House, in the Wiltshire countryside. Because of its position in a field, it was necessary to apply under the onerous ‘Paragraph 79 clause’ of the National Planning Policy Framework. The policy requires that:

The design if of exceptional quality, in that it:

-       is truly outstanding or innovative, reflecting the highest standards in architecture, and would help to raise standards of design more generally in rural areas; and

-       Would significantly enhance its immediate setting, and be sensitive to the defining characteristics of the local area

Our approach was to satisfy all criteria, designing a house that is of ‘exception quality’, significantly enhances its setting and at the same time truly innovative.
