St. James’ Apartment

Oli was Project Architect while working at Jamie Fobert Architects, overseeing the project from start to completion in 2016. This project involved combining two apartments in an historic listed central London building and linking them with an extraordinary new stair.

The stair is carved from nine solid travertine blocks, self-supporting and stacked on a specially engineered and reinforced floor, and finished with brass handrails. Each block was carefully chosen directly from the Italian quarry and was hand carved by a French master stonemason before being lifted and stacked together in the apartment.
