Gentle Street, Frome

This project remodels a grade 2 listed house in Gentle street, Frome. As well as building a new living space, our proposal carefully adjusts the original ground floor in order to create a more direct connection to the garden.

The new extension will read as a stand-alone contemporary addition, deliberately offset from the rest of the house and directly facing the garden. The scale is such that it adds to the lineage of existing, similarly sized rooms, interconnected via deep thresholds and circulating about a new central courtyard. External walls as are made of traditional painted stonework, framed within in-situ concrete lintels and retaining walls.
